MRI brain scans can detect many issues in the brain, such as cysts, tumors, bleeding, swelling, inflammatory conditions, and other abnormalities. During an MRI brain scan, you are required to sit or lay still for an extended period of time. If you have a fear of tight spaces, ImageCare offers you medication to take before your scan to help you feel more comfortable. Aside from this sedation MRI, ImageCare also offers an open MRI machine which provides much more room. Our Hitachi Oasis High Field open MRI decreases the feeling of claustrophobia in patients without sacrificing the diagnostic accuracy of images taken. We also offer a Stand Up MRI that allows patients to watch Television during the exam. Before coming into our office, we have a few other suggestions for how you can prepare for your MRI brain scan, including:
- Wear comfortable clothing
MRI scans can take a long time. For your wellbeing, we suggest dressing comfortably so you can relax easier while in the machine.
Jewelry, hairpins, and other metals can interfere with the brain scan.
Brain scans are around 45 minutes and can cause claustrophobia for some patients. Our staff makes it their priority to provide comfort and ease anxiety in the patient. Meditating before your MRI can help you relax while you undergo the exam.
