You may have heard of the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. PINK has not joined this organization because member organizations have surgeons on staff. PINK recognizes that a patient’s relationship with a breast surgeon is very personal, so we refer independently.
No. Women aged 40 and over don’t need a prescription for an annual screening digital mammogram. Insurance covers this screening with no out of pocket cost. You should have a baseline screening between 35 and 40. Call if you are under 40 and your family has a history of breast cancer.
An annual digital mammogram can detect problems while they are small and easier to treat. Call for an appointment if it has been longer than a year.
Often, the doctor can consult with you, and show you your imaging results, before your leave. If not, there is no cause for alarm.
Yes. PINK Breast Center offers digital 3D mammography, ProFound AI, and high resolution breast ultrasound. Our equipment produces excellent images, and our mammography systems generate less radiation with more comfort than breast centers that do not use Siemens.
Siemens digital mammography uses the latest detector chemistry and optimizes radiation dosage by patient. Siemens research shows this equipment generates 30% less radiation than the latest equipment from other manufacturers. In actual usage, PINK has seen patients receive less than half the radiation dose at PINK Breast Center as they received elsewhere in the prior year.
Siemens digital mammography optimizes compression by patient. Many of our patients are surprised at how quick and painless PINK Breast Center digital mammography can be.
Yes, PINK offers 3D digital mammograms. Published research demonstrates 3D does a better job than 2D digital mammography, and we are seeing excellent results with our 3D systems. All major insurance companies in NJ now cover this technology.
Tumors can be hard to see on a digital mammogram in dense breasts. Fortunately, ultrasound can help find cancers that are difficult to see on a digital mammogram. Please note: only a digital mammogram can detect some concerns, so women with dense breasts should still have an annual digital mammogram.
