Neuro MRI in New Jersey

ImageCare Centers provides services for neuro MRI in New Jersey. This non-invasive procedure captures detailed images of structures within the body. Neuroradiology involves imaging and radiological procedures that are related to the brain, spine, head, neck, and vascular lesions.

When is a Brain MRI Recommended?

If you experience sudden severe headaches, double vision, difficulty remembering information, issues after sustaining an injury, or if you’ve recently had a stroke, your doctor may recommend you get an MRI brain scan. The brain scan images will show your radiologist brain activity and tissues that cannot be detected otherwise.

Neuroradiology can be used for the diagnosis and treatment of many neurological conditions, including:

  • Alzheimer’s/Dementia
A neuro MRI can rule out other issues that would help in diagnosing dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Epilepsy
By identifying pathologies such as malformations, lesions, tumors, etc. an epilepsy diagnosis can be determined.
  • Parkinson’s Disease
A neuro MRI can rule out issues such as stroke or brain tumor to help diagnose Parkinson’s disease.
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
A neuro MRI can be used to detect which part of the brain was affected, as well as the effects that follow this kind of traumatic brain injury.
  • Vascular Malformations
Vascular malformations are often discovered through physical examinations and are further tested through MRI to determine the type of lesion.
  • Spinal Interventions (kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty)
An MRI will detect osteoporotic fractures which is the main indicator for spinal injuries.
  • Multiple Sclerosis
MRI scans can locate lesions or plaques which cause multiple sclerosis.
  • Neuro-Oncology (brain tumors, metastatic disease)
A contrast dye is often used in addition to the MRI to get a clear image of a brain tumor’s shape and size.
  • Head and Neck Malignancies
The cross-sectional images of the body will help determine if cancer is present and if it has spread to nearby lymph nodes.
  • Carotid and Cerebral Vascular Disease
An MRI reveals carotid artery plaque, unlike any other scan, helping to diagnose these diseases.

Methods of performing these procedures include using X-rays, MRI, CT scan, and ultrasound. Our centers perform state-of-the-art MRI techniques that include diffusion tensor imaging and MR angiograms to aid in diagnosis. Additionally, we are one of the only centers that offers icobrain evaluations by icometrix® to assist with brain atrophy and multiple sclerosis lesion tracking as well as diagnosis of hippocampal asymmetry in Epilepsy cases.
