FONAR Upright® Multi-Position™ MRI
The unique capabilities of the FONAR Upright® Multi-Position™ MRI have ushered in a new era in diagnosis. This is the first upright -up MRI to provide a complete range-of-motion diagnosis, with the nerves, discs, and other soft tissue in clear view. It achieves truly physiologic MRI rather than recumbent-only, static MRI, which can leave spinal compression undetectable because it occurs in a standing or sitting position.
Traditional MRI requires you to lie down, which naturally relieves any spinal compression, so the issues you experience while your spine is compressed might not be visible. The Upright Multi-Position MRI enables scans while standing or sitting, inducing spinal compression to replicate the conditions that cause pain or other discomfort.

What to Expect from Your MRI Scan
You will be informed of any necessary preparations prior to your MRI appointment. This will vary depending on the part of the body being scanned. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing, although a gown will be provided if necessary. Be sure to bring the prescription from your doctor with you when you come for your MRI exam.
