Cardiac Exercise Physiologist

ImageCare is seeking a Full-Time Cardiac Exercise Physiologist at our West Orange office.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

  • Performs diagnostic exercise and pharmacologic stress exams in conjunction with Nuclear Cardiology imaging applications, which incorporates the use of radioactive tracers and advanced medical imaging modalities to evaluate, diagnose, and treat heart conditions.
  • Exercises professional judgment in the performance of this service following the Code of Conduct of the appropriate certification board (ACSM).
  • Provides appropriate patient care following the Radiology Gold Service Excellence guidelines to achieve successful completion of the procedure.
  • Contributes as a team member to enhance job stewardship mindful of Internal and External customer service standards

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform and monitor diagnostic stress and pharmacologic exams according to established protocols as part of Myocardial Perfusion Imaging in Nuclear medicine which includes:

1. Prepare patients for testing, properly apply electrodes and ECG leads Review patient history, and medications prior to testing.

2. Alert supervising physician of any contraindications or concerns prior to administering a test.

3. Administers resting electrocardiograms. Administer and supervise clinical exercise stress tests including treadmill stress exercise, pharmacologic stress testing, and stress component of nuclear stress tests and combination stress-echo testing.

4. Advanced knowledge of cardiac rhythms, EKG interpretation, equipment used in stress testing, knowledge of the cardiovascular system.

5. Accurately document patient vitals, treadmill speed and grade, and all signs and symptoms at rest, exercise, and recovery.

6. Accurately complete and submit all documentation for physician review according to department guidelines

7. Notifies physicians of any urgent signs and symptoms

8. Performs and documents daily testing and review of emergency equipment and emergency drug box

9. Proficient in correct billing, charging and procedure documentation.

10. Assists with quality control procedures Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master of Science degree in Clinical Exercise Science / Exercise Physiology
  • Experience in venipuncture for IV catheter placement
  • Experience in clinical testing and evaluation in a nuclear cardiology
  • General Computer experience
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work successfully with patients

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Master of Science degree in Clinical Exercise Science and/or Exercise Physiology
  • ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP), or CCI Certified Cardiographer Technician certification, preferred.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • ACLS Certification required (may be obtained post hire)
  • Proficiency in ECG rhythm recognition and 12-lead ECG interpretation
  • Experience in venipuncture for IV catheter placement
  • Experience in clinical testing and evaluation in a nuclear cardiology

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Operation of nuclear medicine equipment, power injector, placement of intracath needles for injection of radiopharmaceuticals and contrast material, operation of laser imager and computer skills. Working knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology.

Salary: $26.00 – $28.00 per hour

  • Clinical testing and evaluation in a nuclear cardiology: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • ACLS Certification (Preferred)
  • ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (Preferred)
  • CCI Certified Cardiographer Technician (Preferred)
  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
