Interventional Radiology in New Jersey

ImageCare Centers provides interventional radiology services in New Jersey. These minimally invasive, image-guided procedures are used to diagnose and treat a wide range of diseases and conditions while associated with fewer risks and shorter recovery times. During an interventional radiology procedure, tiny instruments such as small needles, guide wires, and catheters are guided through the skin and blood vessels to treat the cause of a medical condition directly.

Interventional radiology detects and treats many diseases and conditions, from cancer and heart disease to varicose veins and kidney stones. Because interventional radiology has made open surgery unnecessary for conditions that used to require it, this practice has become an integral part of medical care. When is Interventional Radiology Used?

Some conditions that interventional radiology is used to treat include:

Arteries

  • Narrowing of the arteries—IR helps radiologists insert balloons and stents, stretch the vessels, and inject clot-busting drugs into the artery via a catheter.
  • Aneurysms – IR relines the vessel with a stent graft.
  • Hemorrhage – IR relines the vessel with a stent graft and balloons.
  • Arterial Embolization for tumor reduction, AVM,  and pain relief
  • Geniculate Artery Embolization: Osteoarthritis pain relief for the Knee

Veins

  • Blood clots in the lungs – Small catheters may break up clots and restore blood flow.
  • Varicose veins – Embolization techniques can block the vessels, causing varicose veins.
  • Blocked veins – Balloons and stents open a blocked vein when narrowed. Catheter-assisted procedures are also used to dissolve blood clots.
  • Vein Ablation– Utilizing heat and laser to treat venous insufficiency

Non-Vascular Intervention

Stone Disease 

  • Kidney stones – IR places an endoscope directly into the kidney and uses special instruments to break up the stones.
  • Gall stones – IR places catheter tubes through the liver to remove the stones or place stents to allow drainage.

Venclose™ RF Ablation Catheter

The Venclose™ RF Ablation Catheter is the latest treatment option for endovenous radiofrequency (RF) ablation, the current standard of care for Chronic Venous Disease. This technology thermally coagulates a refluxing vein by delivering heat to the diseased vessel, which causes it to shrink.

 

UTERINE FIBROID EMBOLIZATION (UFE)

UFE is a minimally invasive procedure that blocks the blood supply of fibroid tumors in the uterus, making them shrink. It is performed by inserting a thin tube into a blood vessel and injecting tiny particles to stop blood flow.
